The name “Easter” is thought to arrive from Eostre, the German goddess of spring. Easter is broadly celebrated in memorial of the rebirth of Christ, and of the approaching spring.
In the spring, rabbits give birth to large litters. As
a consequence, rabbits have been seen as signs of life and wealth since earliest
of times, and have often played significant roles in spring festivals. Custom
has it that on Easter a rabbit called the Easter Bunny deliver Easter Eggs, the
sign of creation and birth.
Note: This hat is sized for an adult. To make a child-sized hat, print
the pattern reduced to about 85%.
