He is the youngster of a British Lord and Lady, stranded on the coast of Africa by mutineers.
Disney’s animated Tarzan was a fresh start for the ape man, taking its motivation equally from Burroughs and Greystoke. Its major innovation were recasting the original fictitious ape species that adopted Tarzan as gorillas and turning Clayton, his worthless cousin and competitor for the affections of Jane in the early novels, into a muscular out-and-out villain.
Two direct to video sequels followed, the forgettable Tarzan and Jane and the more memorable Tarzan II , a re-exploration of the ape man’s early days.
